Black Skies - DevLog – v0.8.2

Black Skies is the kind of survival experience I always wanted to play, so I built it.  This update gives it a lot more polish.

This update hits two major fronts: how the game feels to play and how the world looks around you.

First person is finally right.
No more drifting, snapping, or weird camera swings. It’s smooth now. Fluid. You actually feel like you’re in your own body instead of strapped to a loose GoPro.

Sunrises and sunsets are on another level.
The time of day overhaul wasn’t subtle. The skies went from serviceable to beautiful. There are moments now where you stop walking and just watch the color shift over the mountains. It’s the kind of visual upgrade you feel more than you analyze.

Screen Space Reflections made the world pop.
Surfaces, ice, snow, metal, water. Everything reacts to light in a way that gives depth and realism. It’s a noticeable jump in visual quality.

HUD updates look cleaner.
Added a new stats visual that feels unique to the game. It acts like a window into your physical condition and now blends into the world instead of looking like a cartoon badge slapped on top of your immersion.

Quests are smoother.
Overall quest update that bring more stability and bugfixes. You’ll feel the pacing tighten and the friction drop.

Inventory flow is better.
Hotkeys are cleaner, transfers are faster, and the UI layout feels balanced now instead of cramped. Added hotkeys so the game doesn't fight you but follows your intention.  One unique hotkey pair is for storage containers, the middle back and forward buttons will now transfer all to or from storage and your inventory.  Real gamers have gamer mice with this, so I honor them.

This is a mid-week update, but it changes the overall experience. The game plays better and it looks better. The combination of the new first person feel with the improved lighting and reflections gives the world a level of presence that wasn’t there before.
